In a transition era from fast fashion to a more sustainable and responsible (slow) model, the concept of "capsule wardrobe" is becoming more popular.
What is it and what is the origin of capsule wardrobe?
Despite the fact that this concept is becoming popular again, its origin dates back to 1985 (or at least the most famous) with Donna Karan's Seven Easy Pieces collection, which consisted in 7 basic garments to wear every day and with you could create different looks.
Therefore, capsule wardrobe could currently be defined as a set of basic garments that are the basis of any wardrobe, obtaining an infinite number of looks with just a few garments. The idea is to get the most out of each one of them, so that they are useful in our day-to-day lives, and not to fill the wardrobe with short-lived trends.
The capsule wardrobe and sustainable consumption go hand in hand. Because of these are clothes that we are going to use countless times, it is preferible to invest in for more quality, durability and better fit garments.
What items should I have in my capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is not something rigid and static, but should be adapted to the style of each person. For someone a pair of jeans may be a wardrobe staple, but for another person a pair of suit trousers may be, or both. And also there are so many types of jeans: straight leg, skinny, flared... it all depends on what you like, what fits you better and what you feel comfortable in. Take your time to find the silhouettes and fabrics that suit you best.
Perfect sunglasses for your capsule wardrobe
Sunglasses are one of the most common items in our wardrobes. As well as it protects our eyes from the sun's harmful rays, they also complement our looks and add an extra special touch.
